Maintenance

For warranty and service parts go to the bottom of this page.

M Series wheels require very little maintenance.  Lube the cassette body once a year for normal riding and try to keep any power sprayer away from the hubs.  The cartridge bearings are sealed so typically do not require any maintenance for as much as 10,000 miles.

R series wheels require a little more maintenance.  The cassette body should be re-lubricated every 3000 miles or so.  The good news is that it's very easy to do and only requires the use of two 5 mm alllen keys.

Neuvation Hubs

Here’s a rendering I did of the M series hub showing the bearings in blue.  The two cartridge bearings that support the entire weight of the rider are in positions A and C above. These outboard locations of the load bearings make the hub very strong.  The cassette body uses loose ball bearings on either side of the B button above.  The cassette body is a sealed unit and normally can go about 10,000 miles without a problem.  A yearly application of grease using the Morningstar freehub buddy is all you need.

The R and C series wheels use a different configuration.  The two load bearings are under the flanges A and B.  The aluminum axle is overside under the drive side load bearings preventing axle bending.  The cassette body uses two cartridge bearings C&D and can be removed from the hub with two 5 mm allen keys.  This exposes the pawls for easy cleaning which I suggest you do once a year or as needed (like after a power hosing).
