Bike Fit:

Having a bicycle that fits is the single most important thing in buying a new bike.  It's important that you either get professionally fit or learn the basics and work with a friend to have it done correctly.  One of my long time friends and wheel testers is Paul Swift who is generally regarded as one of the true pioneers of bike fitting.  Here is a link to his site BikeFit.com   Another good site to get a good grasp on fitting in very plain language is Peter White's site.  If you are not familiar with the basics I suggest you spend some time and check both out.

Here is a link to a video I made with Paul Swift on a very basic fit.  You will need Real Player to play it (a free download is available).

Tyler and myself are also now Bike Fit Pro fitters.  Check out this link for Paul's visit and some photos.

How is it possible to get a better bike fit from Neuvation than you would in a shop?  It's not - if the shop owner is trained and focused on doing proper fits.  Most are not.  What I do offer are the tools so that you and your fitter (if you choose to consult one) can swap out components until the fit is perfect.  When you order you can specify gearing on both the cassette and chainwheels and crank arm length.  Both at the time of purchase and after you can swap out stems, handlebars, and saddles until you get it right where you want it.  Your only cost would be one way shipping on the part..  It's not uncommon for fit issues to show themselves only after longer rides or only after you have logged lots of miles and your body is breaking in and telling you to make a change.  With Neuvation bikes you can make the change for up to 6 months after the purchase.

Here's a very, very loose guide for frame fit. The numbers under the frame sizes are stem lengths.

How come I don't offer a womens specific geometry?  The truth is that women are different in sizing than men but by far the biggest difference is that women are shorter than men and so generally need smaller frame sizes.  Because of the special geometry I use it's possible for almost all women to fit a Neuvation frame as well as any womens specific bike.  The biggest issue with almost all other bikes is that the reach on the small frames is proportionally much longer than it is on the large frames resulting in bikes that don't fit.  The truth is that they don't fit shorter men either.  Please take a look at my Bike Geometry page for more detail.

If you have a bike that fits send us the following dimensions and we will be able to copy it very closely.

1.      Saddle height measured to the center of the saddle from the center of the bottom bracket straight up over the seat post.

2.       Saddle position from above to the center of the handlebars.

3.       Height of the handlebars above the center of the axle measured to the center of the handlebars.

A photo of the required measurements is below.
